Prerequisites
In order to restrict table access to specific groups, you must have first created attendee groups for your event. Check out this article for information on how to create attendee groups.
Restricting Access to Tables
With attendee groups created, you can now restrict access to specific tables where you only want certain attendee groups to be able to join.
1. In your Event Settings, click "Advanced" and then "Assign Tables"
2. Click "Manage" on the floor of the table you want to restrict access to
You must configure each floor of tables separately currently. So, if you want to restrict access to Table 6 on every floor, you would need to repeat the same steps for each floor's Table 6.
3. Click the 3 vertical dots on the table you want to restrict access to and click "Restrict table access"
4. Switch the toggle for Restrict table access to ON
5. Select which group(s) you would like to allow table access for
You can select as many groups as you want here. If you wish to deselect a group, just click on it again.
6. To customize what guests outside the selected groups see when they try to join a restricted table, just edit the text in the “Restricted table message” field.
You can also add links in the restricted table message. Links will be automatically hyperlinked and open in a new tab when clicked. For example, an upgrade link or a link to claim an offer.
7. Click "Save". You should now see a key icon next to the table you've set restrictions for. If you hover over the key, you can see which groups have access to the table.
8. If you wish to remove table restrictions, simply switch the toggle for Restrict table access to OFF and click "Save". This will immediately remove table restrictions.
Guests View
Guests trying to join a restricted table without being part of the selected attendee group will be unable to access the table. They will see an error message displaying your chosen text, as shown below:
That's it!
Frequently Asked Questions about Restricting Table Access
1. If an attendee is assigned to a restricted table, will they still be able to join?
Restricted table access overrides table assignments. This means even if the attendee is assigned to a restricted table, if they do not belong to the selected attendee group, they will still be unable to join the table.
2. How can I add links to the restricted table message?
Just paste the full link as usual (e.g. https://linkhere.com). Remo will detect the presence of the link and automatically hyperlink this in the table message shown to guests.
3. Do table restriction changes apply immediately in-event?
Yes! As soon as you click "Save" on the restrict table access dialog after making any changes you wish, all changes are applied immediately inside your event
4. If an attendee is on a table before you've added restrictions, what happens to them after you add table restrictions?
To avoid disrupting conversations, nothing will happen to the attendee immediately. However, once they leave the table that now has restrictions applied to it, they will not be able to rejoin that table if they do not belong to the selected attendee group.
